  • Updating materials from version 2.0 to 3.4

    Hello,

I have a model that was rendered with vray 2.0, I have now tried to render the same model in version 3.4 but I keep getting a dialogue saying that I have missing materials and that the path can not be traced preventing me from rendering.
Is there an easy fix to import the same materials (properties) from version 2.0 to 3.4? I have a lot of models that have vray 2.0 materials/properties and that would mean a huge amount of work if I had to assign new materials to be able to render in 3.4!

If anybody can help that would be very much appreciated, thanks.

    Many thanks

How long ago was it since you rendered that 2.0 file? If the you're finding that the path can't be traced back to the file then it's most likely a linking issue. If you moved the SketchUp file, or the file containing those materials, you run the risk of breaking texture links. If it opens and renders in 2.0, try and open it there and pack the scene. This will collect all your resources into one location. To do so in version 2, go to Extensions> V-Ray> Pack Scene, and save out your scene that way. Then open the file, un-zip it, and open it with V-Ray 3.4. If your files are still missing, its most likely they were not linked in the version 2 file eithe.
