  • Proxy For Interior Scene

    Good Morning,

I was thinking of turning all my 3D Models for an interior scene to proxy so the file won't be that heavy while working on it and to naviagte easily through it without me constantly seeing the spining wheel..What are the pros and cons of doing that?

    Hello, Ahmed,

V-Ray Proxies are currently set to a max of 2000 faces. This will lighten up the load if you have models much more complex than that. The downside is that once turned into a .vrmesh, the object are not editable. So it would always be a good idea to keep the original object backed up as a component file (.skp).
My suggestion is instead of converting numerous objects to .vrmesh to use SketchUp's layers instead. Assign objects to different layers based on type or where they stand in the scene (i.e. Furniture, Exterior, etc.) and only make visible those relevant to what you are currently modelling. When you wish to render, you can enable them all.

In an upcoming update we will reintroduce options to manually control the level of detail of the V-Ray Proxy viewport representation.

    Kind regards,
