  • Material Glossiness and Render Elements problems Vray 3

    Hello!

    I have just updated to V-ray 3 for SketchUp Pro 2017.
    I have tried rendering an old scene with the same settings, but not getting the results I want;

    - The materials in the scene which have reflections and a Reflection Glossiness value lower than 1 get all noisy and not nice at all. I thoght there might be a problem with the subdivs for the glossiness, but I can't find an option for subdivs in the glosiness settings?

    - I have added Material ID as a render element option, but the material ID-image gets all black.

    To me it almost looks like the rendering is not finished, even though it says in the progress window that it is.
    Also, as you can see, colors and lights look all messed up too...

    Please help!

    Hello, Hanna,
    The changes you between your v2.0 and v3.4 renders are due to optimizations in quality settings and a more accurate gamma calculatiton.
    The local subdivs options are no longer available in the interface. Our developers have instead determined the most optimal global values and hardcoded them to allow for more straightforward and faster workflow. If you are not satisfied with the noise level, you can always open the advanced Raytrace settings or use V-Ray Denoiser. Combining Denoiser with lower quality render settings can in many cases cut render times without sacrificing the overall quality of the end result.

    Regarding the exposure level of the render output, you can use the Correction Controls panel from the V-Ray Frame Buffer for further adjustment even while the render process is ongoing.

    You can read more about the changes between V-Ray 2.0 and 3.4 at https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...vious+Versions

        Thank you for your answer!
        I've tried changing the Raytrace settings, which does not help much. I'll try the Denoiser and see what happens...

        What about my Material ID not showing?

            Right.. I forgot to mention this one. The Randomize Material ID tool is specifically added for this case.
            All materials created in V-Ray 2.0 have black material ID color.
