  • VRay for SketchUp 3 - Ambient Occlusion

    Hello.

Can anybody advise the best way to create a Ambient Occlusion layer in VRay for SketchUp 3?

I've turned on AO under Global Illumination but still not looking as i would expect.

Wondering why there isn't an option for AO in render elements?!

    Cheers

    Corey

oh but there is! Add an extratex render element, and apply the texdirt shader to that (can't screencap right now). I believe my default radius is somewhere between 20-40. This will give you AO that is not burnt into the image, so you can level adjust in post as needed

      Hello,
As Delineator already explained, you can add an ExtraTex render channel with slotted Dirt texture (mode set to "Ambient occlusion").

      Kind regards,

Small wish: could be nice to get a flag option to temporary disable render elements. So, f.ex. the AO output could temporary disabled without the delete the AO setup.

I'd be into that - sometimes I just need a quick preview or something, and the only one you can switch off is denoiser. Would be helpful once your so far into the project that you don't want to unload/reload settings, but at the same time you just need to spot check something real quick.

              Hi guys,

We have the render elements Enable/Disable functionality on our todo list.
You can expect it in one of the future updates.

Adding toggle buttons (same as the Denoiser one) to all custom render channels is something which is already planned for the next major release.

                Kind regards,
