  • Paint Bucket and Material Panel Lag

I have noticed on a fairly large project a 3-4 second lag when selecting the paint bucket and when opening the SketchUp material window. I finally think I realized that it is V-Ray causing that lag. I disabled the plugin and all is back to normal. I assume VR is always looking at these tools because of its relation to material creation but can we reduce the lag? It gets very annoying.

    Hello, Matthew,
Roughly how many materials do you have in a project when the lag is noticeable?
Could you please advise whether the lag occurs only when certain materials are selected?
Are you using V-Ray for SketchUp 3.40.04?

    Kind regards,
    Peter

I may have jumped the gun on blaming V-Ray for this, although I disabled VR and it did seem to help with the file I was working on and than a few days later the issue still seems to be lingering even with VR disabled.

Perhaps either the scene is overcrowded or there is some faulty component to blame. If you manage to narrow it down or decide it might be related to V-Ray after all, please let me know!

Update - I remapped the default locations for materials in Preferences to a local drive but I also disabled a few plugins, one of the two seems to have fixed the issue.

              Good to know!
You can try either of these separately to determine which one was the solution.

              Regards,
              Peter
