  • How to render with a transparent background

Hello, Would anyone know how I can render an object (like a chair) on a transparent background and also keep the shadows as if there was a ground plane? I have managed to render the chair with a transparent background but can't figure out how to keep the shadows as well!

    Many thanks

    Hi,

You could use a Wrapper material. The easiest way to set this up is by using the Preset Material Library > Diagrammatic > Matte_Shadow_Receiver and apply it to a plane surface beneath the object. Due to SketchUp's behavior, you would need to right-click on the surface and select 'Reverse Faces'.

For more info about Matte Wrapper Material options, please visit https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...atteProperties

Thank you Georgi, is there a way to save the shadow separately from the object?

      Many thanks for your help.

You could load 'Shadows' and/or 'Raw Shadows' render element (Asset Editor > Settings > Render Elements). To view the produced results, switch to the 'Shadows' channel from the drop-down menu in the V-Ray Frame Buffer.
