  • Had to install and uninstall in the same day

V-Ray 3.6001 is not working with 2018 SketchUp. It works initially but upon restarting SU, I get instant BugSplats. Uninstalling V-Ray fixes the issue. We really need a fix for this for those of us that no longer have 2017 access to updating our licenses.

Is anyone else getting crashes in SU 2018 with the latest V-Ray?

      Hello, Matthew,

Did the bugsplats occur only when trying to open specific projects or just SU2018?
Right after a bugsplat, is there anything logged in %APPDATA%\Chaos Group\V-Ray for SketchUp\VRayForSketchUp.log ?
What other extensions, beside V-Ray, do you use?

If you haven't already, please send an email at support@chaosgroup so my colleagues can follow up and assist you.

      Kind regards,
      Peter

I'm getting Bug Splats immediately after opening SU 2018 as well. Sketchup is listing the items below right before closing...

Error: #<StandardError: Failed to initialize V-Ray>

Oddly enough, I realized V-Ray was causing Sketchup 2018 to crash on startup after I unchecked the "Always show on startup" box at the SU 2018 splash screen. I rechecked the box, and now I'm able to open the program with V-Ray initialized.

What are the chances that the real Frank Gehry is on the V-Ray for SketchUp forums?

Seems like something wrong with plugin load order and timing. Thanks for the info!
Our developers are working toward a solution planned for v3.60.02.
