  • Randomize UV placement for procedural tile color texture.

One thing I've struggled with over the years is making nice wood floors that seem truly random, especially every time I need to start with a new wood texture.

V-Ray's procedural tile texture is useful for the actual patterns, and does allow variance of colors of the tiles, but why not also randomize the offset of an image if used for the tile color?

Like, drop in a seamless wood, set up the tile spacing, and check random offset or whatever and boom, perfect floor!

    Hi shelshok,

What you've described is actually possible in V-Ray.
This is exactly how we rendered the textures for the Wood & laminate material library section.
A tillable texture was used and it's UVs were offset by a custom texture pattern.

Unfortunately you can not set this up in V-Ray for SketchUp at this stage.
It requires mapping the UV placement parameters, something which still not supported.

We'll look into ways to allow this in the future.

Thank you for the suggestion and bringing my attention back on this,
    Konstantin
