I have always explored ways to make my renders look more like sketches. I wondered if Chaos has every thought of having some way to render a scene using a more artistic calculation of lighting?

paint over comped VRayLightSelect layers? math does not do "artistic" I think.

There’s a plug-in for Sketchup called Ambient Occlusion, how would you go about getting a pass exported like this? Is it really just a dirt pass?

Yes, very familiar with this as it’s my favorite filter. Now my question is, can VRay give us a tender that we can plug into Fotosketcher that has lighting that’s not so realistic? I know, this sounds crazy.

Yes. We have Contours, which is Global and Toon as a material setting.

I guess my mind is wondering if we can get a cel shader or lighting calculation that does something like the NPR shader in Blender.

Looks like Katana and Arnold was used by the guys that did Spiderman Into the Spider-verse. This is such a great example of non-realistic rendering.

                      Hi,
A long time ago I was using the Piranesi software from Informatix. http://www.piranesi.co.uk/index.html
                      It was really great.
But the development of the software seems to have been abandoned.
                      What a shame!

Ah yes, I remember Paranesi. That was very interesting indeed. Seeing some of the cel-shading stuff from Arnold and Blender is making me wonder if we could add some parameters to the toon shader to get these effects?

This can be done in SketchUp as well????
