  • Weathering Layer

V-Ray for SketchUp has come such a long way in the last few years by making the rendering process less daunting for users that want to visualize ideas but may not have all of the background knowledge in creating custom maps or specialized materials. One of the things I always liked in Lumion was the weathering feature that you could add to a material to take the perfectness out of it, adding to the realism quite a bit. I would love to see something similar in VR4SU. I could see it as a layer that you could add to an existing material, similar to how a user can quickly add flakes or a reflective coat. You add the layer and are presented with options and a few sliders. I would think there would be a dropdown to select the type of material (plastic, metal, wood) and then a few sliders to control things like dirt, scratches, wear and weathering, etc.

I just a VRay 6 beta for Max teaser... so it's looking like we might get some new material settings to play with in the future?
