  • 3DS Max "Ignore Geometry" feature

I've been using V-Ray for SKP for almost a decade now. I'm not sure if this is a feature that's already been implemented and I missed it, but I've been envying 3DSMax capability to just ignore geometry when rendering, specially for lighting purposes.

Asked GPT, apparently it hasn't been done:

Is there an alternative to this?

    Thanks

    Hello, NeloNath,

You are right, SketchUp currently does not provide an option to exclude objects from the Renderer like the "Renderable" option in 3Ds max. I would suggest you to add a Tag to all objects you would like to exclude from the Render. Then you can easily control their visibility from the "Tags" panel and also turn off the visibility only for specific Scene views.

    Kind regards,
    Iva

Adding a Visibility object property is also an option but unfortunately we do not currently have a good place to put it.
If Object Properties modifier is introduced at one point, this will surely be part of it.
