Several buffer frames ?

I dont know if it is possible, or already have been suggested.

But I think it could be nice to have the ability to render one version of an image, then do some changes, then render again, in a new buffer frame - so it's easy to compare the influence ones changes has.

Yes - I think we will be adding support for a render history and/or multiple frame buffers

Yeah- this is how it is supposed to be. There is some funky problem that only happens to us in Sketchup when we try to parent our VFB to the main window. We're still scratching our heads on that one.
