  • Alpha Overload

I am guessing the ability to create individual alpha files per flagged group/component is beyond the scope of integration between SketchUp and Vray (Not to mention potentially uncontrollable based on the number of groups/components that are in the average model)... So how about a material flag in the Vray materials dialogue that will make Vray create new alpha file for that specific material selected. This way an individual alpha file can be created during the rendering process for each flagged material.

I.e. I flag the glass, railing and render materials in Vray of my scene called sitePlan.skp. I set the output path to be C:/Files/SitePlan 29-07-08.jpg.

At the end of the render process I am left with the following files:
(File names created by extracting the material name)
    C:/Files/SitePlan 29-07-08.jpg
    C:/Files/SitePlan 29-07-08 Alpha.jpg (B/W map of model)
C:/Files/SitePlan 29-07-08 Glass_Alpha.jpg (B/W map of visible glass material areas)
C:/Files/SitePlan 29-07-08 Railing_Alpha.jpg (B/W map of visible railing material areas)
C:/Files/SitePlan 29-07-08 Render_Alpha.jpg (B/W map of visible render material areas)
