    i wonder if IES photometric data will be supported by the next version. any thought from the developers?

    Damien has mentioned that it will be there. I think it's one of the more certain things.
    Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

      As with all light types that aren't currently in SU (spot, direct, ies) the issue is not whether V-Ray has the capability to handle them, the issue is how does one interact with those objects in SU. Unlike other 3d applications, SU does not have an interface for adding objects to the scene that are not 3d geometry. The light types that are yet to be added require being edited and manipulated in ways that are not easily done as simple geometry in SU, where as the rectangular lights and omni lights work much better. We have to sit down and devise a way to represent those lights with geometry in a way that makes them easily modified as native geometry within SU. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but the reality of it is that its quite an undertaking.
