possible to have external reference feature in VfSU..?
it will really help keep the model sizes low (and possibly reduce parcing time too..?)

is it due to sketchup that its not possible currently?

    Re: external reference..?

    You're talking about VRay Proxy?

That is a feature they have said they want to implement, though it has not made it into this last release. (The last release was only meant as a rebuild to add OSX support.)
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

many thanks thomthom for the quick reply...
yes, and indeed this feature would help us... (though it should use native .skp file as the proxy, rather than creating a .vrmesh file) AND we should be able to modify materials in the skp scene itself (rather than going back to the original .skp file)... seems too much to ask for is it?..

AND it should render in real time, and have every plugin and feature that V-Ray for 3D Studio Max has.

          Re: external reference..?

          with due respect- why not?
Vfsu is a powerful and easy to handle rendering engine, and options like these- vproxy, clean material editor (with sketchup like ease of use), environment map on/off in viewport, unbiased rendering mode (why not if possible?)..will definitely definitely help
hopefully with all the bugs smashed (pretty soon with all the help available) these items can get their due attention.
Before sketchup, 3d modelling was like dancing while wearing a body-cast.
          Sketchup changed that..
now with vray it has a greater potential, and hopefully it will live upto it
(i really appreciate asgvis team for their kind attention, even with posts like these ones...)

Yeah, I agree, we should have all of that stuff in our plugin. We're getting to it, it takes time.
