  • Dilation?

    Vray Baking / Dilation:
I couldn't find any explanation about the option "Dilation" when baking.

    What is it doing?

    Thanks for clarification!

    Hi, Bernhard

The Dilation value determines the number of pixels to expand around the geometry's UVs. In the attached screenshot the cube on the left has dilation value of 10 and on the right a value of 60.

Hmm.. ok.. so that means if the UVW seams are very tight and close together.. a higher number increases the radius of overlapping?
What do you recommend for a UVW Layout, that has the seams super close together?

Just going with higher numbers until you have some "overlapping"?

        Hi, Bernhard

The dilation doesn't produces overlapping it just extends the pixels. If UVs are very close to each other the pixels will extend until they meet in the middle and then stop so that there is no overlap. You just have to make sure that the UVs themselves are not overlapping.
