  • VrayLight

after importing a VrayLight from Max (.vrscene) to the Unreal Engine, I realized I can't change the width or length of the leight.
The only impact I can see, is if I am going to change the multiplier and if I move the light to a different location.

Is this suppose to work this way?
Shouldn't I be able to control the size of the VrayLight?

    Hi, Bernhard

If you are using the VRayLightRect you can adjust the width and length of the light. The VRayLightRect in UE is build as blueprint (a scripting system based on the concept of using a node-based interface to create props and gameplay elements and logic). Currently the light that the VRayLightRect emits is a spot light which doesn't represent correctly the area of the light in the viewport but will render correctly in the VFB. This is because Unreal before 4.20 didn't have their own rect light and we weren't able to make a proper area representation. Since we support 3 version(4.19,4.20,4.21) we haven't change the blueprint to use the new rect light that UE provides. When we add support for 4.22 and drop the 4.19 we will update the VRayLightRect blueprint and have proper lighting in the viewport and in the render.

    Best regards,
    Alexander
