  • Is Unreal ultimately going to kill Vray?

I just saw the latest newsletter and it 'seems' its ready for film and tv production. Is there any point anymore in rendering with a cpu and waiting hours for a high quality final frame?

Vray is slow renders and fast work, ue4 is real time renders and a really, really fucking time consuming working process.

Still, I believe Vlado said sometime that tools like Vray and project Lavina will converge, which must mean that at some point tools like Unreal 5 will be a direct competitor.

            No doubt about that.

I also have no doubt that Vlado and company are some of the sharpest minds on the planet. If Vray/Lavina would allow a similar workflow without having to go into Unreal it would be wonderful to avoid Blueprint and their gazillion of buttons and parameters. Guns and stuff is less useful in architecture, although interactivity and packaging for different platforms like the Quest are. Would love to be a fly on the wall in one of Chaos Group's strategy meetings.
