  • Problem with bump/normal maps when importing vrscene into unreal engine

    Hello,

I have been having this issue when I import a vrscene in unreal engine, none of the bump/normal maps get imported into unreal. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
    • I followed the vray for unreal quickstart guide and simplified all my vraymaterials. No complex mats
    • for all my mats using bump, I am using standard bitmaps as well as vraybitmaps plugged into vraynormalmaps
    Software I am using are 3dsmax 2021, vray 5, unreal engine 4.25

    Thanks

    Hi marnell_companies,

In V-Ray 5 the bump in V-RayMtl has been updated and the export has been changed in the vrscene and that hasn't been handled in V-Ray Next for Unreal. When we upgrade to V-Ray 5 for Unreal then that issue will be solved but for the time being as a workaround you could use the following:

Use the VRayBump Mtl and plug the original mtl in the "Base mtl" input and plug the bump into the "Bump map" slot and export your material this way

      Hi Alexander,

Thanks for the tip! So are there any other supported features listed in the Vray for Unreal help documents that do not import correctly when exporting vrscenes using Vray 5?

      Thank you
