  • Installing V-Ray Plugin in Unreal Development Branch

    Hi Chaos Team,
we used the V-Ray for Unreal Plugin to create a virtual reality showcase on the Oculus Quest/Quest 2/and now Quest Pro and it worked quite well.
Now we are trying to get the V-Ray Plugin run in the Unreal Engine Development branch from Oculus, because we want to use some of the new features, that are only available in the Oculus UE branch for now.
For this we buildt the UE 4.27 with the new Oculus updates in Visual Studio and this still worked.
At the next step we tried to install the plugins, for this project the V-Ray for Unreal plugin, in the dev branch and there some errors occured.
For this we copied the plugin folder into the branch plugin folder and tried to rebuild it in Visual Studio. Install Code Plugin to Source-built Engine - Pipeline & Plugins / Plugins - Unreal Engine Forums
I also tested the procedure with other plugins and it worked well, but it doesn't work with V-Ray plugin for any reason.
We always receive this message by building the project:

Do you know where the error could be and how we could fix it?

Thanks a lot for your support

    Many greetings,
    Simeon

    Hi Simeon,

The V-Ray for Unreal plugin is only supported on officially released version of UE (4.25,4.26,4.27) and does not work with custom (branched) versions of the engine. We are looking into ways to make our plugin work with a custom build without the need to rebuild our source code but without success so far. We will let you know if there is some development.

    Best regards,
    Alexander
