  • Standalone Vray Next GPU .exr output depth.

    Hello,
I'm currently updating some of our pipeline tools to Vray Next / Vray GPU. Now I'm having issues with getting the outputs "right" which in my case is,
I want the REs embedded in the .exr file and I want the layers of the exr file in 16 bits per pixel depth.
(Optimally I'd like to be able to choose the depth for each layer separately, but I understand that this is a whole other issue.)

I do observe the following behavior ALL using Vray NEXT GPU:

If I render a frame using 3ds max and Vray GPU, having the "V-Ray raw image file" checkbox on (32 bits checkbox in the save dialog off) - It will do the "correct" thing and render an EXR with the REs embedded and the EXR contains 16 bits per pixel.

If I export this scene with the same settings as a .vrscene and render with just the "scenefile" parameter supplied and "-rtEngine=5" it saves every RE in a separate exr file and each of these exr files is huge (32 bits per pixel).

How do I save 16 bit pp exr files that have the REs embedded with Vray Standalone and the CUDA version of the RT Engine?

    Thank you!
    -Robert

    Hello,

Thank you for reporting this. A V-Ray raw image file (16bit EXR) option with all REs embedded is working as expected and it is saved succesfully from Standalone.
Could you please provide the exported .vrscene to support@chaosgroup.com for investigation? Also could you share which version of 3ds max do you use?

    Best regards,

Hello, thanks for your reply. I'm going to re-check If I've made a mistake but if not, I'm going to submit the scene to the support.

      Thanks so far!
