        Take a look at this.

Although bare in mind that RT cores are not fully (or better to say, at all) utilised yet in V-Ray GPU!

So, it's fast! I see that the top runners have multiple cards. I don't know what you mean by cores not being utilized.

Yes it is fast! Yes you can stack as many as your setup allows you to (temps, pci lanes, space, psu, etc)

Nvidia 20x series, Turing architecture was release on 4thQ. of 2018 which introduced RT (RayTrace) Cores.

These cores though are not yet utilised almost from any software so far (at least in public releases).

What RT can do? You can have an idea here:

            https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/design-...-architecture/

            and here:

            https://www.chaosgroup.com/blog/ray-...project-lavina

            last but not least here:

            https://www.chaosgroup.com/blog/what...endering-v-ray

Plus a bunch of other videos on youtube showing some impressive RealTime raytracing.

If you had $3000 sitting around would you buy it. I think only one of these cards will fit in my machine, so I would swap my 1080 ti for the Titan RTX.

I would honestly wait. This tech is evolving fast in 1-2 years it will be much better then it is now. Stacking 2 2080 TI will require having a new board and lots of $$ just to get that 22 GB of ram? it can be easily surpassed. Imho not worth the effort at this point.

I was thinking more along the lines of one Titan RTX. I am working on a project and 4k stills were taking 4hrs. I just tried a hybrid render for the first time in a year and it took 1hr. If the Titan RTX is 2X as fast it'll be well worth the money. My projects are stacking up like planes trying to land at a busy airport and the bottleneck is 4+ hour renders.

This will save you a lot of GPU memory.
Dealing with geometry usually it is not a problem, since you can fit hundreds of millions of polys under 1080Ti, maps are the ones that will kill your memory.
Is this what is causing my HDRI to look 8bit (out the windows)? I changed to full resolution and I am trying it again.

Is this dome light? If yes, check the texture resolution size in the dome light settings.

I have 3k sitting around, that does not mean i will spend them on unnecessary hardware.
Unfortunately jumping from CPU to GPU (even though V-Ray makes it easier) it's a bumpy transition.
When you are running out of time, you can't make that transition with one gpu (this about your current setup).
TITAN RTX in terms of speed is nowhere $3K (way lower).
Check the rest of Turing Architecture if memory is an issue and speed is holding you back.
I would strongly suggest you don't spend 3k on a gpu, that's going to be used for archviz, just because it is 24gb, 1 TITAN X won't benefit you.
                        Check bench results 1x1080Ti = 54s vs 1x Titax RTX = 50s
You need speed, and unless you're planning to buy more than one (a lot more) Titan RTX won't give you that (3x2080Ti will though, with almost same amount of money).

PS. I'm having this weird feeling that your 1080Ti is screaming to you "OPTIMISE THE SCENE SO I CAN SHOW YOU WHAT I CAN DO"!!

Thanks for the feedback. I went from four hours with CPU to one hour with CPU/GPU, so that's impressive. Yes, a four-second increase isn't worth $3000 .

If you've attached your HDRI to the dome, by default is 512px on V-Ray GPU (this represents the size of the diffuse only), instead on envmap it reads it full res for both diff and reflections, if I'm correct.

Can I fit a second 1080ti? It looks like it and DELL said that they couldn’t help me on 3rd party hardware. I’m so impressed with my one using GPU I want a second.
