  • RTX Support for GPUS?

Is there any availabe information in regards to RTX core support for GPU?

  • #2
Hello! Stable nightly builds do have RTX support and you can download the latest stable build from our nightlies download page. Have in mind that currently the required driver version is 436.30.

Ohh holy cow the nightly is three times faster on my scene here. Just one single 2070. All i did is installing the latest driver and the last nightly version for Maya.

      Good work Chaosgroup.!

Sounds promising. I'm very curious to see it here at Vray for Rhino. Do you need to enable RTX or is it enabled in the background?

Thank you, sounds great. I hope Vray for Rhino will allow to use RTX too soon.

Sorry, I'm so curious and there are only a few infos around RTX. What kind of scene did you got three times faster? An interior?

I just did a test on a cyberpunk-ish dark scene with heavy atmospherics and several light sources along with a v-ray sun set to emulate a bright moon. Rendering with 1950x and 2080ti in CUDA hybrid vs only 2080ti in RTX mode resulted in RTX taking about 33% longer.

Will you guys eventually workout hybrid rendering with the Optix/RTX?

                  Hi,
I tested my 2080ti with this and it's really cool.
Where can I learn more information on which areas are faster with optix than CUDA. I can use my 4 other older 1070 cards with these but do they actually slow down.
If we add non-RTX cards do they let RTX card do it's thing?

Hello! Nick_059 for the time being hybrid mode with RTX is not supported, oguzbirgoren RTX should work well with any Maxwell generation cards and later. You can refer to this blog post for additional information: https://www.chaosgroup.com/blog/v-ra...#disqus_thread

Is there any performance benefit from using RTX mode with a system that only has Pascal cards?

I guess not. I believe It's just hardware acceleration for ray tracing at the moment. So your Pascal cards would still raytrace over software
