  • Material Wrapper Alpha

    Hi,
The goal is to have a object on the background and render full diffuse but remove background from alpha. I set alpha contribution to -1 for the bg and it shows all white alpha where as it should be just the object that is shown.
I know that I am doing it correctly because when i switch to vray next it works properly. Is there a solution or workaround for vray GPU next? Need this asap.
ps. Attached is what i want. What i get is all white
    Thanks

The 'Alpha contribution' is currently not supported on the GPU, however, it is logged in our system (Bug-tracker id: VGPU-2828 ). I'll bump its priority additionally. As a workaround, try adding a VRayExtraTex RE with a white VRayColor texture and exclude the background in question.

        Hi,
any news on this ? On GPU mode alpha contribution setting to -1 isn`t working for me since the release of VrayNext two years ago and is quite an important option for product shots......so can we expect it in the near future. Strange thing is, that it shows up the correct way when thw light cache is calculated, but in the final rendering it isn`t working.

looks as if this really important feature will never be available in GPU mode......too bad.

Yeah, this feature is critical for VFX.

really poor form again from vray GPU
doing product stuff atm and as per my usual bi-monthly visit here ..... of course I find it to be another fundamental flaw in the 'production ready' vray GPU

(yes there is a annoying work around but again, in a time limited enviroment this is a pain in the ass)

Has anyone managed to get a workaround sorted?

Still struggling with Car renders that need to be transparent.

                      Hello,

This request is at the top of our current priority list, it has been a complicated and time consuming task
We have multiple devs working on this at the moment, the changes are in code review. I will update the post once I have news on this
