  • Shadow catcher in VRay Next GPU

    Hi,

    I have a rush job, it's very simple, 1 object (lots of polys) on a shadow catcher. It renders fine in CPU but GPU renders it much quicker. However the shadow catcher is not working and not putting the shadows in the alpha.

    Are shadow matte objects supported? I can seem to get them working at all

      It is working fine. Make sure the Alpha Contribution is set to -1. Use the "Shadow Catcher" toolbar button for a quick setup.

        OK, the rush is over.
        I started stripping down the file to send as an example as nothing seemed to be working, and in the process I found what was causing the problem.

        My shadow catching material was black (0,0,0) this caused the shadow catcher to not work. If I set it to any other colour (even 0,0,1) then it worked.

        So problem solved.
