Mining (Type) Rig for External Rendering

Hi,

I need to expand my rendering ability and was thinking of setting up a mining type rig which would connect to the motherboard with a Thunderbolt 3 connection.

Is this a good idea or would it even work? It would be for production rendering and not realtime rendering so the 10% lag mentioned in other threads won't be an issue - I think.

Does anyone know of any examples of this type of setup or if it is advisable?
