  • GPU Rendering - but mixing Intel and AMD CPUs

    Hi Guys

When rendering with VRay GPU (either DR, or each slave its own frame), does it matter if the CPUs are amd or intel? I know with CPU it makes no difference, but wanted to double check for GPU rendering

    In all 3 modes:
    GPU - CUDA
    GPU - RTX
Hybrid GPU using GPU and CPU - CUDA

    Kind Regards,
    Morne

VRay GPU is nvidia only. leave amd for running displays.

edit: wait, I read it all wrong. cpu with cuda does not matter. rtx is nvidia only.

Yeah, you missed some bits of the question there....

is there any considerable benefit now though? how much speed can you get with new gpus?
or is it just a fallback option in case of running out of vram?

I'm aware of the differences of CUDA and RTX. The question is not about that however.

The question specifically relates to if mixing Intel/AMD Cpu's on slaves machines when NVIDIA GPU rendering with DR rendering or Networking rendering, if the CPUs makes any difference whatsoever in the look of the renders (in either CUDA mode or HYBRID MODE). I'm 99% sure it makes no difference, however it would be great if somebody from Chaos can officially confirm this, so that the correct info is put out there.

matanov can you maybe shed some light for us please.

            Hi,

There should be no difference no matter what CPU is used.
