Why does GPU need a much higher noise threshold than CPU?
Is there a formula how to increase the nt for GPU?

Hi thanks for posting. There is no direct correlation between render settings for CPU and GPU. Here you will find basic information about render settings in V-Ray GPU.

Typically set mine to .005. Good middle ground between .003 and .008.

        Hello,

This should be improved in V-Ray 6, the GPU UI will translate your settings between V-Ray and V-Ray GPU to get close noise results
We use a formula for Max Subdivs to match the noise levels, not actually the noise threshold. the results should be close in noise in most cases
You may still need to lower the noise threshold a bit on GPU, they are different engines after all

        Best,
        Muhammed

Same here, between .005 and .01 depending on the scene and Denoiser settings
