    Below is how I was instructed to set it up, but what does the * on the top GPU represent?

    My current hardware setup:
    • Ryzen 9 5900x CPU
    • 128gb Vengeance RGB Pro RAM
    • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 X2
    • ​Windows 11 Pro

    Hi Bobby,

    If you hover over this GPU with your cursor, it will show you how many monitors connected to your GPU. The * refers to the GPU that is used for your monitors + 3Ds Max viewport.
    Your setup is correct because 3Ds Max uses a lot of GPU memory these days. It could use 10 GB or more on this GPU marked with *
    Hence it is better to use the other GPU with higher available VRAM for your GPU rendering.

    This way you can still use your system to do other tasks while GPU rendering
