  • RT- DR question

    Hello all...

today i finnaly installed purchased RT and i have a question about RT distributed... i installed RT as 3dMax render slave on the slaves and as workstation on main computer... in render servers (RT dialog) i put all the slaves exept main computer.. is that ok? i dont have to put main computer...
and the question is, is there any other way to see that the slaves are calculating (processing) exept to see in the tast manager the CPU usage which is between 95 and 100 %...
do i have to register RT on the slaves (because i can not do that, when i try its sais that the configuration is incorect...) or just on the main machine... ??

    Thanks...

It is ok to use only render slaves, without the main computer.

Currently there is no other way to check the render slave usage, but we'll work on that.

The slaves need to at least know the location of the V-Ray license server (there is a shortcut for this in Start menu > Programs > Chaos Group > V-Ray RT for 3dsmax > Licensing > Administration > Change client license settings). If you are getting the "application configuration is incorrect" message, then you will need to install the Visual Studio C++ runtime libraries. They are installed as part of 3ds Max, and also as part of V-Ray RT 1.5 SP1 (but were missing from the original 1.5 version).

    Best regards,

Thanks you Vlado... so do i need to run RT render server on the slaves, or just on main machine?
and if the processor usage is 95 - 100% that means that they (slaves) r calculating??

You need to run the RT render server on all machines that you want to contribute to the rendering. It is not required to do that for the main machine as well.

You can also check the console window of V-Ray RT on the render servers to see if they do anything.

        Best regards,
        Vlado
