  • How do I know if the dist RT slaves are contributing?

Other than opening task manager or something like that on each dist RT slave -how can I tell if the slaves are contributing? Does it mention in the log/command window anything about which slaves are contributing (something along the lines of the regular vray where it lists which nodes are successfully rendering DR) ?

It's a bit of a short-coming right now. Will try to add some info about this.

      Best regards,

refamo is a bit overkill plus $$$$. I just want to know quickly double check each machine is contributing to RT DR.

If you only have a few machines ( less than 8 ) Squidnet free version might do the trick. I don't use it for render management with Max, but it does provide a utility that shows procesor activity on the slave machines which I use to see who is contributing and who isn't. Also handy for quick shutdown/reboots etc.

Thanks Brett. I've already got a system in place to start/shutdown my systems (IPMI) so I really only need this to monitor processor activity. So it looks good but is a bit overkill just to occasionally see processor activity. Anyways I'm having trouble getting my other render nodes noticed by squidnet. "Network installer" doesn't seem to do anything - any help?

I installed it a year ago (for modo) and don't really recall having any issues. Are you running squid net as a service on the nodes?

Yeah, shold have tried that - seems to work now. IMO the installation instructions could be a lot better...

It's a bit funky overall, but I figured that was just my lack of experience with networking and network managers. I pretty much just use it now to keep an eye on DR nodes, so for that it works great and the footprint is fairly small. I just leave the tipnode network view window open and can see total CPU usage for the entire farm, or each node, at a glance.
