  • No GPU-rendering option in RT Settings

    Hi,
I am very new to Vray RT.
I read the help files but I can't see the GPU option or OpenCL (singe kernel). In fact, Engine option is totally disabled.

I choose Active shade as render option and choose Vray 2.0 RT.
My video card is 580 GTX Nvidia.
I am on build Vray 2.10.01

Please tell me what I am doing wrong?

I ran into this last week. I had my Activeshade window up which grays out the engine options. Close any open activeshade windows then you should see your option for OpenCL appear.

You cannot change the engine type while V-Ray RT is running; you need to close any ActiveShade windows and then restart V-Ray RT.

If you are running it for the first time, it may take quite some time to compile the OpenCL code for the GPU (maybe several minutes) - check the V-Ray RT render server window for more information. After the code is compiled, it will be saved and re-used later on, so it will be a lot faster.

          Best regards,

            No RT Render server window.

Has windows error `vray stand alone has stopped working` .

I tried it few times and even created a new scene with some teapots to test.
It hangs "waiting for the image data" (I waited for 10 minutes) or displays an error from windows "Vray standalone has stopped working."

I see the RT Render Server window (black one) when using CPU RT.
But I don't have it with Single Kernel and I get error report from Windows " "Vray standalone has stopped working."

Can it be because of the the nightly built I am using?

I have 580 GTX and latest Nvidia driver installed.

              What am I doing wrong?

Which driver version are you using? There are known issues with the 275.x drivers, but the previous versions (270.0x) should work fine.

Thanks- installing an older driver solved the problem.
I was able to render the test scene in open kernel mode and didn't need to wait long.
Though in the project scene, it is written "waiting for the image data" and it waits forever. Could be because of unsupported features?
                  Or what might be reason?
When there are unsupported elements, doesn't gpu render work at all or does it just skip the unsupported things?
