  • RT stereoscopy in Maya

Hi there, I've been testing Vray Rt for Maya Stereoscopic capabilities, and I'd like to know why is not possible to see directly the stereoscopic image, in non-anaglyph mode, but with shutter Nvidia 3d vison glasses, like do majority of games, or stereoscopic players like power dvd.

Appears Autodesk haves the few shame to restrict "Active" mode only for quadro users, when all of us know well a good gtx card is perfectly capable of do the work. In my case, gtx485m, 384 cuda cores, enough I think, so, Chaos:

Would be possible to override this stupid limitation in the VrayRt for Maya render engine, and check our render results are correct directly without acquiring a quadro?. The first time I executed Rt in stereo mode, appears a message telling that is not possible or something like that?. Really exist a real limitation for do this?.

Respect Autodesk.. I hope Nvidia keeps feeding them. Till this maintains as is, no suscription payment. I believe I has a good working machine, but now it not gonna be more than an expensive gaming machine...

Buff!, I have an monumental dudgeon right now... I'm gonna see if I find some solution... yehaa!

It is somewhat complicated to set up; from what we could find, windowed OpenGL quad buffers only work on some Quadro cards. On other cards like GeForce, this only works in full-screen mode. It did not work reliably for dual monitors though - and single monitor full-screen mode makes little sense. Things may have changed with recent drivers though - will have to check this out.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

It's perfectly possible Vlado, I'll show how to check it.

Get a try to the "Stereoscopic Player" (http://3dtv.at/Downloads/Index_en.aspx). Here you'll find some nice stereoscopic videos too: http://3dtv.at/Movies/Index_en.aspx

Please, excuse the language of the captures, doing a quick translation, menu should be something like, View menu, Visualization Method, Nvidia 3D vision, leave the player in window mode and drop the film in. For me, stereoscopic video on window mode is working perfectly.

      Win7 x64, 280.26 drivers on gtx485m.

I can't show you a stereoscopic shot, because its impossible to capture it (you get the right or left eye only at PrintScreen time!).

Still you didn't make the test with Stereoscopic Player?. If you have any problem about, tell it to me.

        Someone has tested it?

Appears now its possible to use Quad Buffers with geforce directly. (But in full screen mode always), since 314.07

          Take a look here:
