According rumors, GTX 680 is more like a gaming architecture (slow for computing). Probably GK110 will be the real thing...

Yes, my friend send me a test with another RT engine. I cannot put the entire scene here, but this is the difference between 580 and 680

But I don't know if, with the new GPU architecture, we need some "patch" to improve our RT engine...

Some people did preliminary tests with V-Ray RT GPU and the 680 seems to fall between 570 and 580 in performance, closer to 570 - similar to the AnandTech benchmarks. Also, most CUDA stuff doesn't seem to work on the 680 yet and apparently CUDA programs need to be updated to work. So unfortunately almost no other way to compare for the moment except for OpenCL.

        Best regards,

yes, a beta tester friend tell me that NOW 680 is fast as 580 ( 10/20% plus no more..as Cecofuli said). He is trying Cuda softwares.
But with a recompile of the software with the new cuda, the developer says that the software will be 2.5/3 time faster.

          regards.

I really hope so However some rumours suggest this might not be exactly the case...

I'm pretty sure that if they improve the CUDA version, that will translate to OpenCL as well; it would make no sense to keep the card so much slower than AMD...

                  Lets hope so hehe...

In any case hows AMD doing? I was checking GPU tests in GPU section and there is still no AMD cards on list. Are AMD cards working with GPU or still crash or 20min renders?

That sounds better and gives some hope, anyway. It will be interesting to see where this all shakes out...
