  • GPU Computer

Hi. I am thinking about buying a boxx GPU computer with a quadro 6000 - 12gb card and tesla K20.

I have just heard that Tesla K40 is just around the corner and this new card will also have 12gb ram.

I dont really know what these tesla cards will do for the performance of VRAY RT. Can anyone tell me what the 12 gb ram of the new tesla card will do compared to the K20 with 5 gb.

More Ram memory will handle more heavier scenes - it is always better to have more memory especially if you intent to render very heavy scenes.

it's more based on textures and maps.

For rough mem calculations you can check this topic http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...ght=gpu+memory.

Actually Boxx recommends taking the Quadro k6000 cards instead of Tesla K40 cards, because of the lower price.

its actually Boxx that guides me to do so, because that some of the differences between the two cards are not current for me and the use of Vray.

They say it is has some synchronization between several K40, which is good for mathematical calculations and so on..
