  • Supported features of V-Ray RT for 3ds Max on GPU and CPU

    Hello,

You can find the list of the supported and unsupported features of V-Ray RT here:
    http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...orted+Features

We will do our best to keep this list up to date but there can be some discrepancies. If you find any let us know.

To use the GPU engine you need video card that supports following:

    1. OpenCL 1.1 or higher
    2. CUDA 2.0 or higher
    3. The CUDA engine for V-Ray RT GPU works on NVIDIA cards with the Fermi and Kepler architectures.
    4. For users of NVIDA cards, we recommend the use of CUDA engine when rendering with V-Ray RT GPU.

        Thanks for the list.

It would be nice to have an overview of supported plugins on this list too.

Thanks for the list. I´ve found one point which should be corrected. The default max maps like checker or noise work well as diffuse maps. In the GPU- mode they don´t work as bump maps.
To have the noise map as bump map in GPU would be a great improvement.
          Best regards

Thank you very much for your feedback. It seams that you are right, these maps do not work when they are assigned into Bump slot - we will update the documentation accordingly.

Are there plans to add more features with GPU in the near future? If so, how soon?

We are constantly working on new features and it will be impractical to have a list with dates and details.
