  • Guild to using VrayRT as a production renderer????

    Hi all,

New to using VrayRT, so excuse me if this info is already somewhere.

Just wondering if there is a guild to using VrayRT as a production renderer??? I am not sure of many things and even some basic info would be great. [Such as using LightCache for secondary bounce to speed up the render??]

    Thanks for your time

We are sorry to inform you but there isn't any guide about using V-Ray RT as a production renderer.
You have to only assign it as a Production Renderer from Render Setup window and use the same way as V-Ray Adv.

Please note that V-Ray RT (especially GPU engines - OpenCl/Cuda) does not support all the features available in V-Ray Adv so if the scene uses a feature which unsupported it will be rendered differently.
More information about Supported Features could be found here:
    http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...orted+Features

Another thing you have to consider if you intent to use V-Ray RT GPU as a production renderer is the amount of RAM available on the GPU. GPU devices are still very limited in terms of RAM compared to the CPU so if the scene requires more RAM than available one it will most likely to crash.
More information on that matter could be found here:

      Thanks for the info Svetlozar

Just wondering if the use of the lightcache for secondary bounces in GPU mode is available for the vray 2.5 nightlies or if it's just for vray 3.0
I am also testing the vray 3.0 demo but I prefer to use my 2.5 version for testing RT as the version 3.0 demo has too many limitations for me to properly test things.

      Thanks for your time

Light cache on the GPU is supported officially only in V-Ray 3.1.
