  • Vray Next error in animations

    Hi to everyone.
I'm working on a scene with a short animation. 3ds max 2018, Vray Next GPU.
Everything works fine, vray next is perfect in IPR mode, no problems at all.
But when I try to render the animation, it renders without problems the first frame, but when it's time for the second Vray gives en error (see attachment) and it stops.
I've done some tests, and I discover the problem is related to a forestPro object I created using Vray next beta 2 and Forest pro beta 5.8.something (I don't remember exactly the version...).
In the end I think this is probably a compatibility issue between the beta version of Vray Next and Forest Pro. I'm now trying to recreate from scratch the Forest object to see if this fixes the problem.
    Anyone have had such problems?

    Hello,

When this error happens we try to create a crash dump called VRay.dmp in your temp folder (%temp% in windows explorer). Can you check if there is one and send it to us?
Also - if you could send us the crashing scene it would help a lot.

    Best regards,
    Yavor

Hi Yavor. Certainly I could search for the dmp file and I could also send the scene. Just tell me your e-mail address where you want to receive the files

Send all to our support - support at chaosgroup.com and mention this thread. They will forward the files to me and can arrange for storage if the files are big.

Thanks for the scene - I got it and reproduced the crash here. Will write back when I find out something more.

For now you can work around the issue if you turn on distributed rendering and enable the "Use local host" option - that way V-Ray will automatically start a V-Ray standalone instance and render in it.
