im test driving next GPU, and so far i generally like it, although ive not had much success on my current scene with bucket mode. unhandled exception in vray when i tried to render with bucket mode. progressive works fine.
i was reminded (doh) about having decent drivers (i was still on 380)
so i downloaded the recommended 417 driver (417.71 specifically)
now i get an unhandled exception PLUS max crash to desktop..
seems to be related to displacement, as with the displacement modifier disabled, it renders ok.
im not sure if its a memory issue? ive got the displacement turned up as high as it will go before refusing to render in progressive mode.
i was interested to see if bucket mode used less gpu ram than progressive, rather like it does in vray ADV.
im on windows 7, using a pair of maxwell titan X cards, and max 2016
i cant upload a scene here as its a live job and features loads of high res textures.
if somebody at chaos wants it , send me the right email address.
