  • Using 2 GPU's. Older card runs out of memory and the whole render stops.

I'm running Vray Next (4.20.01) in Rhino 6. Two GPU's (2080ti and 980ti). On some recent renders I'll get the error that the 980ti has run out of memory and this stops the render. Shouldn't the render continue using the RAM from the 2080ti? If I uncheck the 980ti so Vray only renders on the 2080ti it would usually finish the render without issue.

I've also been having issues with Core exceptions and CUDA 700 errors, etc. But I'll save those for another post the next time it happens.

Lots of people seem to be using combined cards from different architecture. Am I the only one having problems?

For the Cuda errors - try a clean install of the latest NVidia drivers and see if you'll still get them.

For the 2 GPUs - when you render the scene is loaded in each GPU separately, so if you exceed the memory of the 980 the whole render will fail. The only way to share memory currently is using NVLinnk, but the 980 does not support it.
