  • Noisy specular reflections

I'm doing some tests with GPU and I've noticed that I always get noisy specular reflections even with Noise Threshold 0.005 and Max Ray Intensity 1.0. Speculars are perfectly smooth with Vray Adv (CPU) even with a much higher Noise Threshold of 0.2. All settings are at default in both cases. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Aleksandar. I've sent the email a couple of hours ago, but I didn't receive a ticket number back.

That's odd. Could you try once more and if that doesn't work, send it to my personal e-mail, aleksandar.hadzhiev@chaosgroup.com and I'll create a case for you.

Alex_M Hey I was confused by this recently as well cos VRay CPU seems to clean these types of things up a lot quicker. Turns out you need much higher subdivs on GPU than the default. Try setting your max subdivs to 100 or higher and it should clean up those specular issues

Hi, I got strong noise from time to time too and today I found it's related to speculars. Please hermit.crab look here, I hope it's something for you:

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind when I try the GPU renderer again in the future. I'm using the CPU rendered for this reason. It just lacks these small issues that are absent with CPU.
