  • Compiling Kernels crash - Vray NEXT update 2.1, Maya 2019.2, Mac OS 10.11.6, Titan X

Trying to get Vray CUDA rendering on a Mac in an older OS install (10.11.6).
CUDA rendering is selectable, and rendering starts with the first, long "Compiling Kernels," but Maya crashes right at the point when the compiling seems completed - "Fatal Error".
Have tried total clean install for both Maya and Vray, no change.
Same file renders fine with GPU in OS 10.13.6. with same Maya & Vray install.

After reinstalling again, GPU rendering crashes before it even gets to compiling kernels.

// Error: line 1: V-Ray : /Users/jenkins/ci/cgrepo/vraysdk/samples/vray_plugins/rt_privat(1642) : CUDA error 1 : one or more of the parameters passed to the API call is not within an acceptable range of values //

Very confused by "/Users/jenkins" - where is that mystery user coming from?

V-Ray GPU works only with C++/CPU devices under macOS. Make sure only such a device is selected under the 'V-Ray render devices selection' rollout. Reading this FAQ would provide some clarity about the matter as well.

V-Ray GPU does work on Mac Pro 10.13.6., with Titan X card. Just had to set the environment variable, as advised by others on the forum.

Enabling the specific variable is an experimental functionality, so use it at your own risk.
