  • Auto Exposure, regular render & IPR Render not showing the same results

    Hello,

    V-Ray Next, update 3.2 (4.3.02) - 3ds Max 2020 (22.0)

In order to set up Auto Exposure, I am doing the following steps:

    - global material override to a default V-Ray material
    - regular GPU render with Auto Exposure/Auto White Balance turned on in the Render Settings
    - once render is done, transfer the settings to all cameras in the scene

However, once I render the scene with these camera settings in IPR, the result looks like it does not honor the auto exposure settings (the render is a lot brighter)

Is this the correct workflow to setup Auto Exposure? And should the resulting renders look the same if using IPR render or regular render?

Attached a screen capture showing the difference.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the report. This is the correct workflow, however, the difference in results is an issue concerning the Auto White Balance option. Note that the difference is evident in IPR because it uses Brute Force/Brute Force as GI engines, while the Auto Exposure/Auto White Balance options require a calculated Light Cache. The issue is already logged (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-8578 ) for developer analysis.
