  • VRay GPU - Linear Memory Leak?

I've got a doozy for you guys. I'm rendering a scene in GPU mode in 5.00.03 30140, in Max 2021, and I'm seeing the texture memory on the cards increase by the same amount every frame rendered, until it fills 24GB of memory on each card. The Titans are in SLI/NVLINK mode right now, so I'm not sure why they're not sharing memory, either.
I've tested on both CUDA and RTX modes, and the only difference seems to be the speed that the memory fills. RTX takes 10 frames, CUDA takes 18.
Here's a shot of the stats from the last attempt:

Static and dynamic geo also seem to increase per-frame, without new geo being added.
The biggest texture in the scene is a 250mb EXR.
I'm uploading the scene right now, and will reference the ticket # in this thread as a reply.
    Hope you guys can help!

Thank you for the report! We will investigate it ASAP. It would help a lot of you provide a scene with which we can reproduce, just in case it's something specific to your scene, so we don't waste time trying to reproduce.

Ok I wanted to make sure there's a scene in there. I don't have access to the tickets, I will take it from support on monday

          Have a great weekend!

The support team has been playing with the scene today, but I haven't yet heard from them. As soon as I have any feedback I will let you know.

According to support, this is caused by the VRayDistanceTex. They're apparently working on a fix.

Yep, in this particular scene the DistanceTex is what's causing the problem. We've found the problem yesterday and a fix is already proposed. You can expect a fix relatively soon.

The memory leak with distance tex has been fixed!
The fix is in the latest nightly build here:
