  • Vray 5 GPU Light Exclude

I've noticed in many of my scenes (if not all) that the light exclude option isn't working consistantly. When I exclude objects from the lights (illumination and shadow casting), they are still lit by them. This occurs during IPR as well as final renders. Usually when I deactivate the light and reactivate, it works properly. Although this isn't possible when rendering out final sequences. I am currently using a mixed GPU setup: 2080ti and titan X (Pascal) on Windows 10 (most current update) on an HP Z840. Vray is the most current stable nightlie with Nvidia driver 446.14

    Hi LeePuznowski

We're aware of an issue with IPR in CPU and is in our to-do list for IPR improvements (VMAX-5275), however, it seems to be working fine in GPU

Could you please provide more information regarding your issue - any screenshots/screen recordings and steps to reproduce would be greatly appreciated.
You can also try updating your GPU drivers to the latest recommended ones.

      Hi Nikoleta,

Thanks for the reply. As mentioned above, this also happens when rendering out final images/sequences. So when I'm rendering over a Network, I am not able to "refresh" the light by deactivating/reactivating. This makes rendering some scenes not possible. I'm currently rendering a project now and am having the same issue. This makes it not possible to render the job. Is there a work-around for this in the meantime? Otherwise I am having issues to finish this project.

This is for GPU. You said it is only an issue with CPU?

Hi, yes, I've edited my original post to remove any confusion as I was referring to a CPU-related issue. Regarding the GPU, please do provide some more information - is this happening with every scene, and if not could you list the steps leading to it? Any screenshots/screen recordings would also be of great help. Does the issue persist if you disable one of the GPUs? Have you tried updating your drivers - you can find the latest recommended ones from our V-Ray GPU page here: https://www.chaosgroup.com/vray-gpu

After a very simple test here it appears to be working as expected: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...5_15-25-00.gif

For the current scene I have 2 Vray Suns. One is lighting everything, the other is (supposed to be) lighting only VrayVolumeGrids and PhoenixFD simulations. This is done through the light Options -> Exclude -> Include -> Both. But the light is still lighting everything. this happens on my workstation with the 2 different graphics cards and recommended drivers as well as the Network nodes which have all the same cards (6x Ttitan X) and same recommended driver. This seems to be happening on all my scenes.

            Hi Nikoleta,

According to your example .gif the shadow exclude is working. Is it also working for illumination exclude? That's the issue I'm currently having with GPU rendering.

              Hi Lee,

I can't reproduce this with Illumination exclude either: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...8_15-42-41.gif

Would it be possible to forward a stripped down version of the scene with the issue reproducible so we can have a look and investigate further? You can do so by contacting us through our Support Contact Form here: https://www.chaosgroup.com/help/cont...hnical#options
