  • V-Ray 5 GPU not rendering on 3080

    Hey, all
I was working on a scene using V-Ray GPU (latest build) RTX on my newly aquired 3080. Everything was great until it simply stopped working.
Outupt size is not that large (2500x750) and only have 3ds Max and V-Ray running atm.
It starts the rendering process but after a while it stops showing 2 errors, in order:

error: [MemoryManagerGpu::setupManagedMemoryInstance] 2: Could not allocante device buffer with size: 96038176 bytes
error: Could not initialize GPU for rendering!

What I find weird is that I was rendering this scene just fine, making adjustments and all, until it simply stopped working. Might I be missing something obvious here?
    Tks!

    Hi Rick,

The following error is related to memory usage - the scene is not fitting in the VRAM of your GPU. It appears that you'd need to optimize dynamic geometry (e.g. hair/fur, displacement).
Please do check our article on Memory Usage Optimizations for GPU rendering: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...+GPU+rendering and try to follow some of the steps. Make sure to monitor your memory consumption and let us know if you're experiencing further issues.

      Tks for the reply, Nikoleta!
One thing that bugs me is the fact that the scene was working flawlessly the whole time and, without any changes, stopped. My guess is that even though it fits in the vmemory, the GPU gets "tired" after a while with the rendering and all the rest of the info it naturally handles.
Will test further and see how it goes.
      Tks!
