  • Vray GPU bug - translucency not working in Vray Material

As the description says - doenst work on GPU, just disovered it after trying to work out why some materials were looking wrong after attempting to migrate a project from CPU for faster speed and a GPU farm.

Is this going to be added? Vray 5 has been out for quite some time.

I hate to bang on about it but is Chaos Group ever going to start taking Vray GPU seriously and attempt feature parity - or at the minimum communicate plans ? Why do the prices go up yet it still has so many missing features and still in experimental phase - which begs the question why is it so expensive if its experimental?

VRayMtl's translucency is not yet supported on V-Ray GPU. We do have an improvement request already logged (internal bug-tracker id: VGPU-515). I'll add your request as well.

Is there a reason some of the gpu issues arent resolved yet, technically wise? I only ask because the reflection glossiness render element is still not supported, and that request was in vray3.6? Is it a maya issue?

francomanko Regarding the specific issues in this thread - VRayMtl's translucency is going to be reworked, so working on it at this point won't be efficient; there isn't a specific reason for the reflection glossiness element's lack of support except for its lower priority compared to other functionalities. Otherwise., just so you know, the devs are informed about both issues.

thanks for reply, i get its low priority, the glossiness, but over 5 years is more like no priority
