  • OPTIX bottom level acceleration structure crash

    Hello,
RTX (same when CUDA, or CPU) production Rendering crashing right as this message displayed in VFB bottom: Building OPTIX bottom level acceleration structures.
message may have been "compressing OPTIX ..." it wasn't on screen very long before Rhino crashed & closed.

I have isolated the crash to some entities, when I turn them off, it renders fine. On and it crashes.
What is that message, and will it point to what I need to fix to stop the crash?
    Vray 5.10.04, Rhino 7, 7.6.21127.19001, W10 21H1 19043.985
    RTX 2070 NVIDIA 466.47
    8700k 32gb
    Thank you,
    Glenn

    Hi glennco,

Since you mentioned this is happening when using specific entities, is it possible to forward a stripped version of the project (with those entities included) to us so we can have a look and troubleshoot? You can send it via our contact form, just make sure to mention this thread in the email. Much appreciated!

thanks for the reply. I worked around the issue by going back to a stable file, and then rebuilding some items (that I knew I had created or modified since the stable file version). I'm not sure which items were corrupted, or if the file itself was corrupted, but due to a fast completion requirement, rebuilding several was my best option.
The issue was resolved, and has not reoccurred.
Strange thing was the items were fine in a file by themselves, I copy/pasted into a larger assembly, then made a few minor modifications (location, lights, material/mapping fine tuning, etc) then the problems occurred. So, to correct i again had that sub-assembly in a clean file, except this time I did all the changes there, then simply copy/paste into main file and worked. So I could have caused the issue, or some items didn't play well with others?
Unfortunately, this client's projects are all under NDA, I can't even use them as samples.
      Thank you,
      Glenn

        Hi glennco,

There is no way of knowing until we manage to test these items, please be aware that we are ready to sign an NDA if necessary, should the same issues reoccur.
