  • gray polys, random texture issue rendering animation. VRay GPU Maya

When I render an animation, the object that is moving sometimes shows "dead" or gray polygons on its surface. For instance, I am rendering a 10 second clip and every few frames I have one where a random polygon on the character turns gray. The character has a very simple VRay Material assigned, just a color. I am rendering using Progressive. Any ideas how to fix this bug? Is bucket "safer"?

Here is a picture to explain the gray polygon. It shows up random all over the mesh in animation.

Update: bucket does the same as progressive. The polygons that turn gray are definitely random but only on the moving character.

My theory is maybe my RTX 3090 somehow runs out of memory with the scene (unlikely! But, maybe). So I am trying to render the sequence using CPU.

Are we talking about the grey spot below the duck's beak? Maybe you could send the scene via the contact form so we can troubleshoot it. Mention me and include a link to this thread in the message.
