  • GPU light cache not working properly

    Hey,

We ran into trouble with the new GPU light cache with Max 2022 and V-Ray 5.2, and unfortunately we had to roll back to version 5.1.
    1. The first issue was the higher memory consumption: With 2x2080Ti and NVLink we haven't had any memory issues lately, but since the GPU light cache we constantly run out of memory. We tried updating to the latest nightly build, we updated the GPU driver, nothing worked. The weirdest case was when it said 1865 MB was missing and even if we turned off a few forest pack objects it kept saying the same.
    2. Another file seemingly started the light cache calculation and then immediately stopped and not responded anymore
If you have any ideas what we should try to make it work, we would really appreciate it. I can send you some files to test if it helps.

    Thanks,
    David

We are aware of this behavior and have been working on a fix
in Stable folder/5.2 please try the recent stable build from today, there is an initial fix that helps with most cases
You need Nvidia Game Ready driver 496.13 or newer

We released a second fix in the nightly folder starting from yesterday, installer will have build number 31135 or higher
If you are still getting crashes with the mentioned builds, please let me know. specially if the scene renders fine in 5.1

    Best,
